Major Sewer line project moving along

There's a lot of construction equipment along the 5 freeway just south of Meadowview road. What the heck is going on out there you may be wondering? Sewer line expansion, The Lower Northwest Interceptor (LNWI) expansion thats' what.

What is the LNWI? The Lower Northwest Interceptor (LNWI) is a regional pipeline that will provide sewer service for the growing northern Sacramento County area and West Sacramento.

click here for more info . . .

Want to View the project map?

Part of the area off the 5 Freeway where the pipeline is being located will be home to the Delta shores development once the pipeline is completed.

Changes are happening all over Meadowview. I'll be sharing some of the changes happening off the 99 Freeway soon.

KFC & Long John Silvers on Amherst

Yeah that empty corner at Amherst and Meadowview is finally getting something built there.

Looks like a 17,000 sq. foot retail center along with a KFC & Long John Silvers are coming soon according to the agent listed on the recently erected sign on the property.

We'll have to request some more information from the developers and hopefully we can get drawings.

One more sign of progress coming to Meadowview.

Levee Repairs Underway

A few months ago all of us here in the Sacramento area were worried about levee failures and how could things be so bad. But I live in Meadowview what's that got to do with me? More than you may realize.

Why were the levees we thought were safe now on the verge of failing?

Lack of consistent upkeep that's why. Well now things are moving to fix many of these crumbling levees. Take a few minutes to educate yourself about the state of the levee repairs in our are click on the link below.

Check out the Levee Repair home page developed by the Department of Water Resources. Also check out the levee presentation conducted for the Pocket Area

Here's a video clip covering levee issues in the pocket area which will affect Meadowview in a levee breaks there.

Freeport Regional Water Project (FRWP)

The FRWP is a cooperative effort of the Sacramento County Water Agency (SCWA) and the East Bay Municipal Utility District (EBMUD) of Oakland to supply surface water from the Sacramento River to customers in central Sacramento County and the East Bay of California.

Water will be drawn from the Sacramento River at an intake facility and pumping plant located in Sacramento, upstream of the town of Freeport, and transported east through Sacramento County by new large diameter pipelines.

Construction of the water intake facility will begin in November 2006 and be complete in November 2009.

New Meadowview Shopping Center revealed

A New Meadowview Shopping Center called "Freeport Marketplace" planned for the corners of Meadowview road and Freeport blvd. was unveiled recently at a community meeting helded last week at the Sam Pannell community center.

Once completed Meadowview will have a very nice looking shopping center on what is now an open field over run with high grass.

Some grading work has begun on the site but ground breaking is still a little ways off according to city officials.

But I can share this with you Councilwoman Pannell, city staff and the property developers have done a good job on this project.

This is a very attractive shopping center that rivals any development in the Sacramento area and it just may be the beginning of a long list of changes scheduled for the Freeport/Meadowview area.

Currently the following buildings are scheduled for the Freeport Marketplace Shopping Center

RiteAid - 17,000 sq. foot store
Mueller Pet clinic - 25,000 sq. foot
Carl's Jr
Unknown sit down eatery - hopefully

I hope we can get a few images to share with you all soon.

Where ya been man?????

Where have I been you ask?

Well, to be honest I had serious concerns about continuing this blog after several neighbors shared their comments with me.

No I didn't get any threats of physical harm. What I ran into was a level of negative comments and lack of interest in community activities that frankly caught me off guard.

So I stepped back to re-evaluate if this blog was something I wanted to continue.

Well as you can see by my entry today I will continue posting to this blog and not let those in the community who lack vision prevent me from sharing my thoughts and comments with the rest of the Meadowview community.

With that said get ready for a blast of community information that will have all of us in Meadowview excited about the future of the Meadowview area.

See ya,
